Can a Philodendron Grow in Water?
Yes. most philodendrons, especially Heartleaf and Brasil, can live indefinitely in water. The plant adapts its roots to water and stays healthy long-term.
How long it lasts in water
Indefinite. Heartleaf philodendron can live in water for years.
How to set up
Take a stem cutting with at least 1 node. Submerge the node, leave the leaves above water. Use a glass or jar tall enough to support the vine. Change water every 1–2 weeks. Liquid fertilizer monthly.
What can go wrong
Root rot from stagnant water. Algae in clear containers (use opaque or change water weekly). Crown rot if you submerge the stem above the node.
