Do Peace Lilys Like to Be Root Bound?
No. peace lilies decline noticeably when severely root-bound. They prefer to be repotted every 2–3 years to maintain healthy growth and reliable blooming.
What happens to a root-bound Peace Lily
Severely root-bound peace lilies stop blooming, droop almost immediately after watering, and produce smaller, sparser leaves.
When to repot anyway
When the plant droops dramatically within hours of being watered, or has stopped blooming despite good light. Typically every 2–3 years.
Signs the plant is TOO root-bound
Daily dramatic drooping, no flowers, leaves yellowing, pot bulging.

When it’s time to repot, see the Peace Lily repotting guide.
