Signs your Peace Lily needs repotting
Roots circling out of drainage holes; pot bulging or cracking; soil drying within 1–2 days; plant dramatically droops within hours of drying, even with consistent watering.
Step-by-step
- 1Water thoroughly 24 hours before.
- 2Slide out the rootball.
- 3Best time to divide: peace lilies grow in clumps; separate by hand into 2–3 sections with 2+ leaves each.
- 4Pot in fresh mix at the same depth.
- 5Water thoroughly. Keep in bright indirect light during recovery (NOT direct sun).
- 6Expect droopy leaves for 1–2 weeks — normal transplant shock for peace lilies.
What kills Peace Lily after repotting
- Burying the crown — causes rot in the central growth point
- Direct sun during recovery — compounds shock with leaf scorch
- Worrying about droopy leaves — it's normal for 1–2 weeks
