Prayer Plant needs 150–500 fc, classified as medium light. Best window direction: North or east; never direct sun.
How low can it go?
Tolerates 100 fc. The iconic herringbone pattern fades but the plant survives.

How much is too much?
Bright indirect is the upper limit. Direct sun bleaches the pattern and curls the leaves.

The most common Prayer Plant light mistake
Same as calathea: putting in bright direct light for "more growth." Prayer plants want bright indirect, never direct.

How to measure light at home
Download a free smartphone app like Light Meter or use a $20 digital light meter. Measure at the leaf surface, not the ceiling. As reference points: 50–100 fc is dim corner light; 100–400 fc is medium indirect; 400–1000 fc is bright indirect; 1000+ fc is direct sun.
