How Big Does a Monstera Get? (And How Fast)
Indoor Monstera reaches 6–8 ft indoors with support. Here\u2019s what determines whether yours does \u2014 plus the realistic pace.
Mature height
6–8 ft indoors with support
Mature spread
3–5 ft
Growth rate
fast
In the wild
climbs 30–70 ft in tropical forest understory
How fast a Monstera actually grows
12–24 inches per year in bright indirect light with a moss pole.
What limits Monstera growth indoors
Light intensity is the #1 limit. Without bright indirect light (500–1,000 fc), growth stalls. Pot size is the #2 limit; root-bound plants stop putting out new leaves.
How to maximize size
Provide a moss pole or trellis (climbing is when Monstera fenestrates more dramatically). Repot 1–2 sizes up every 18–24 months. Fertilize quarter-strength every 2 weeks during growing season.
