Does a Peace Lily Flower?

Yes. peace lilies bloom reliably and often. The "flower" most people recognize is technically a spathe (modified leaf), with the actual flowers on the small finger inside.

What the bloom looks like

A pure-white (sometimes pale-green-tinged) spathe wraps around a cream-colored spadix covered in tiny true flowers. Total bloom is 3–6 inches tall and lasts much longer than most flowers because the spathe is leaf tissue, not petal.

How to trigger blooming

Bright indirect light is the main trigger. Peace lilies in dim corners never bloom; those near a bright east or filtered south window bloom reliably 2–3 times per year.

How long the bloom lasts

Each bloom lasts 4–6 weeks (much longer than most flowers). The spathe slowly fades from white to pale green to brown as it ages.

How likely is it indoors?

Common in adequate light. Peace lily blooms are one of the easiest indoor flowering events to trigger.

After blooming

Cut spent spathes at the base of the flower stalk. Fertilize lightly to encourage re-blooming. Peace lilies bloom 2–3 times per year in good conditions.
