Does a Jade Plant Flower?

Yes. mature jade plants flower in winter with small star-shaped pink-and-white flowers, but it requires very specific conditions.

What the bloom looks like

Clusters of small (under 1/2 inch) pink-and-white 5-pointed star-shaped flowers appear at the tips of branches in late fall or winter. The bloom clusters are 2–3 inches across and can completely cover a mature plant.

How to trigger blooming

Plant maturity (5+ years), cool nighttime temperatures (50–60°F) for 6–8 weeks in fall, reduced watering, and long days followed by shorter days (jade plants are sensitive to day length, like poinsettias).

How long the bloom lasts

Each flower cluster lasts 2–3 weeks. The entire blooming season runs from late November through February in conditioned plants.

How likely is it indoors?

Uncommon — most indoor jade plants are kept too warm and well-watered to bloom. Plants in outdoor pots that get exposed to cool fall weather bloom more reliably.

After blooming

Cut spent flower clusters and resume normal care. Reduce watering after blooming to give the plant a rest period.
