Does a Anthurium Flower?

Yes. anthuriums bloom prolifically indoors. The bright red, pink, or white "flowers" are spathes; the real flowers are the small bumps on the spadix.

What the bloom looks like

A glossy heart-shaped spathe in bright red, pink, white, or coral surrounds a finger-like spadix in cream, yellow, or pink. Total bloom is 3–6 inches across and can last 6–8 weeks per bloom.

How to trigger blooming

Bright indirect light is critical. Anthuriums in low light produce only foliage and never bloom. Other triggers: 60%+ humidity and consistent moisture.

How long the bloom lasts

Each spathe lasts 6–8 weeks. A mature anthurium can produce 4–6 blooms per year, often with multiple blooms open simultaneously.

How likely is it indoors?

Common in adequate light. Anthuriums are sold specifically for their blooms, and they perform reliably if given enough light.

After blooming

Cut spent flower stalks at the base. Resume normal fertilization. Anthuriums can bloom year-round in tropical conditions.
