Cultivar guide · Monstera deliciosa
Thai Constellation Monstera
Heart-shaped fenestrated leaves with cream-yellow speckled variegation distributed across the leaf surface (like a galaxy of stars, hence the name). Variegation is stable because it was tissue-culture-developed in Thailand and inherits reliably.
Family
Araceae
Classification
cultivar
Mature size
4–6 ft tall indoors on a moss pole; leaves can reach 1–2 ft across at maturity
Pet safety
toxic to cats and dogs
Care at a glance
- Light
- Bright indirect light — the cream sections cannot photosynthesize, but speckled distribution makes this cultivar more forgiving than Albo Borsigiana in lower light.
- Water
- Water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Slightly more drought-tolerant than the green form because of slower growth rate.
- Humidity
- 50% or higher
- Temperature
- 65–85°F (18–29°C); no cold drafts below 55°F
How to tell it apart from look-alikes
The most common mistake is confusing this cultivar with Monstera Albo Borsigiana (which has block/sectoral white variegation, not cream speckles). Thai Constellation variegation is stable and never reverts; Albo variegation often does.
Pet safety: Thai Constellation Monstera is toxic to cats and dogs per the ASPCA. Verify on ASPCA.
